Burp cloths are a necessity for any parent with a baby. They are used to catch spit-up and drool, and they can also be used to clean up messes. However, not all burp cloths are created equal. Some are better than others in terms of absorbency, durability, and size.

Here are some factors to consider when choosing a burp cloth:

Absorbency: Burp cloths should be absorbent enough to catch spit-up and drool without becoming saturated. Some burp cloths are made from terry cloth, which is very absorbent. Others are made from bamboo, which is also absorbent but also more sustainable.

Durability: Burp cloths should be durable enough to withstand being washed and dried multiple times.

Size: Burp cloths should be large enough to cover a baby's chest and shoulders. Consider offering a burp cloth when visitors hold your baby against their chest- different detergents can irritate baby's skin, and having an extra layer of clean cloth between someone's clothing and your baby's face is always helpful.

How many burp cloths do you need?

The number of burp cloths you need will depend on how often your baby spits up or drools. Generally speaking, you should have at least 3-4 burp cloths on hand.

Here are some of our favorites:

Gerber Prefold: These burp cloths are made from 100% organic cotton and are super absorbent.

Burt's Bees Baby: These burp cloths are made from soft, sustainable bamboo and are also very absorbent.

Munchkin Multi-Use Muslin Squares: These muslin squares can be used as burp cloths, blankets, or swaddling cloths.

Mebie Baby Burp Cloths: These versatile burp cloths are made with 100% muslin cotton.

When in doubt, have a few extra. You never know when you may need a backup!
