There is a wide range of normal here. Some babies begin sleeping 6-8 hour stretches by six months old, while others may not until 12 months or older. Night wakings are normal in the early months; newborns have smaller stomachs and need to wake for feedings. As your baby gets older, they may wake for developmental leaps, teething, growth spurts, or illness. Certainly, it’s a relief when full nights of rest occur, but it’s not a universal milestone.
