Between 3 and 6 months, you may notice your baby start kicking a lot more. By now, kicking is more intentional than reflexive and is a big part of building strength. It can be helpful to encourage their kicking through play. Here’s how:

  1. Instead of hanging a mobile for their arms to reach, position it over their feet to aim and kick. Opt for something safe to kick, like a hanging puzzle ball.

  2. Position a toy safe for kicking near their feet, ideally one that will do something interesting when struck, such as this spinning drum or musical wobbler.

  3. Tie balloons loosely around their ankles and watch them delight at the movement generated by their kicking!
