Your baby's social development is evolving in these early months with subtle but meaningful milestones.

Here's what you might notice in month three:

  1. More eye contact:By three months, your baby may gaze into your eyes more intently. Young newborns typically look away sooner so as not to grow overwhelmed. Now, they'll start to lock in and lean in more!

  2. Smiles and gurgles:While genuine laughter typically emerges in month four, your baby's smiles may come with whole-body excitement and little vocalizations that sound like giddy gurgles and more sweet cooing.

  3. Social preference:While your baby is a bit young for separation anxiety, they can show clear preferences for those they feel closest to, showing more excitement for you, siblings, and other caregivers they've bonded with.

By engaging in meaningful interactions as simple as eye gazing and cooing, you're laying the foundation for healthy social and emotional connections.
