Newborns tend to sleep between 14 and 17 hours in a 24-hour period, but they may get most of their sleep from daytime naps rather than overnight stretches at first. By about three months of age, and as your baby develops a circadian rhythm, they will start to sleep 8-10 hours at night. It is normal for your newborn to continue waking to feed, but your baby might start to sleep 4-6 hour stretches sometimes.
