How do you know if your formula has gone bad? Here are a few signs that your baby formula may be spoiled, even if it has not reached its expiration date:
Change in smell:Spoiled formula often has a sour, off-putting smell. If you notice a strange odor when you open the can or bottle, it's best to err on the side of caution and throw it out.
Change in color:Spoiled formula may also change color. It may become darker or lighter than usual or develop a greenish or brownish tint.
Change in consistency:Spoiled formula may also become lumpy or separated. If you notice any of these changes, throwing the formula out is best.
Bacteria growth:If you see any signs of bacteria growth, such as mold or fuzz, throw the formula out immediately.
If the formula has expired, it's best to err on the side of caution and throw it out because it could still be contaminated with bacteria.
