It might seem like a small detail, but securing your baby into their car seat correctly plays a significant role in keeping them safe—this includes proper, consistent placement of the chest clip that harnesses your baby in place.

The chest clip is an important positioner

The chest clip prevents the harness straps from sliding off your child's shoulders, which could happen during a crash or sudden stop. The chest clip helps keep the harness securely in place, distributing crash forces evenly across your child's body and minimizing the risk of injury.

It's not enough to simply buckle it; it must be positioned at armpit level

To ensure your child's safety, the chest clip should be positioned right on the chest at armpit level. Placing the clip too high on the neck or low on the abdomen can lead to serious safety risks.
