Diaper changing can become more challenging on traditional changing tables once your baby starts rolling over. Rolling infants can be pretty wiggly, and they are likely to roll off a raised surface if not properly secured.

Here are some safety tips to consider when changing a diaper for a rolling baby:

  • Use the safety strap! Many diaper changing tables come with safety straps or harnesses to help secure your baby.

  • Before starting the diaper change, ensure you have all the necessary supplies (diapers, wipes, clean clothes) within your arm's reach. This minimizes the need to turn away from your baby during the process.

  • While changing your baby's diaper, use one hand to gently hold their chest or legs to keep them in place. This can help prevent them from rolling over while you're changing them.

  • Consider using a changing pad with raised sides. This can provide an extra level of security to prevent rolling.

If you're concerned about your baby's safety on a changing table, you can change their diaper on the floor. Lay a changing mat or clean towel on the floor, place your baby on it, and proceed with the diaper change. This eliminates the risk of falling from a raised surface altogether!
