Experts advise you to stop swaddling at the earliest signs of rolling, typically between 6-8 weeks of age. If you observe your baby has begun rolling, it’s absolutely time to ditch the swaddle.
Swaddling restricts your baby's ability to use their arms and legs to reposition themselves or push up, which can impede their ability to roll back over if they find themselves in a position where they cannot breathe comfortably. This increases the risk of suffocation hazards and Sudden Infant Death Syndrome (SIDS).
You can switch to a sleep sack or wearable blanket, which provides comfort without restricting your baby's movement. Always place your baby on their back in a safe sleep environment, free from loose bedding, pillows, or stuffed animals.
