Known as “sticky eye,” newborns can sometimes experience goopy eyes related to blocked tear ducts, infection, or allergic reactions. To clean the goop, gently wipe the affected area with a warm, wet washcloth. While eye goop is not usually a serious problem and often resolves on its own, consult your pediatrician to rule out any cause warranting prompt treatment.
