The most direct way to prevent illness is to minimize your baby’s exposure to germs. This may require a slower pace and a smaller social circle until your baby is a little older (and wouldn’t have to go to the emergency room for a fever, which is the case under three months of age). However, it’s important to balance social distancing with the need for social connection and emotional support. Exposure to germs is an essential, normal part of building baby’s immunity over time. Your risk tolerance should be a personal decision informed by the needs of your baby and family.
